Hallo from ice hockey society „ICE GIRLS” from LATVIA!

2 years ago 3 girls realized that there is practically no such world famous sports game as WOMEN ice hockey in Latvia!

These girls didn’t know anything about organisation and management of sports societies just got down to business and formed a team which is the most popular of its kind in Latvia!

During two years of our existence we have done a lot of voluntary work and we have achieved a lot! For example, there are more than 60 girls in our team now and most of them are under 18! That is why we have formed a new team - I.C. and its aim is to create a U-18 base team in the future, though now it will be H/C ICE GIRLS farm-club!

Everything is great because we have settled our status which is Social benefit organisation and it allows us to raise donations... though there is one obstacle. The culture of donation is not very well developed in Latvia yet and thus it is almost a shame to tell someone that you have donated some money. Sure, there are exceptions!

And if somebody makes donations then it is in favour of organizations who take charge of CONSEQUENCES (abandoned children, crisis centres etc.)

We are the organisation which wants to EXCLUDE the consequences! We offer our girls to play this great game and maybe we save someone from roving around the streets and from bad influences. We offer to spend their free time in a friendly, sportsmanlike atmosphere and we give an opportunity of 5 trainings on ice each week!!!

For some it means the time of shivering, tooth cluttering and other unpleasant feelings whereas for others it brings feelings of excitement like before meeting a friend not seen for a long time!

I want ice, I want ice... they knock on the windows. And when the Ice covers all possible water reservoirs, the skates drowsing from spring are happily brought out, and skating may begin to get angry again, time from time, at the illegitimate spring in mid-December, Spanish rain in January, and the black ice in February...
